Residents Can Make Partial Payments on 2009 Property Taxes

The Broward County Records, Taxes and Treasury Division has implemented a new program that allows property owners to make up to five partial payments on their 2009 property taxes.

Both State and County statutes allow the tax collector to accept up to five partial payments per parcel for payment of current taxes and assessments on real and tangible property as long as the payments are made by March 31. Payments are made at the financial convenience of the taxpayer. However, the first four payments must be a minimum of $100 and must include a $10 processing fee. The fifth and final payment must be payment in full and must also include the $10 processing fee.

“With the Partial Payment Plan, there will be no tax discount allowed and no monthly invoicing,” said Polly Cacurak, Operations Manager with Broward’s Records, Taxes and Treasury Division. “It is the taxpayer’s responsibility to ensure that their taxes are paid and all payments are made by March 31 to avoid delinquency.”  Any unpaid balance will be subject to interest and penalties as prescribed by law. No partial payments are allowed after March 31.

Residents can begin paying 2009 property taxes November 1, online at www.broward.org/revenue,(click SEARCH/PAY PROPERTY TAXES), in person at one of the 27 Wachovia Bank Branches listed in the tax brochure that was enclosed with the tax statement, or by mail to P.O. Box 29009, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33302-9009 or at the Governmental Center Annex, 115 S. Andrews Avenue (mail payments are not accepted at this address).

Installment Payment Plan

For next year’s taxes (2010), Cacurak encourages taxpayers to enroll in the Installment Payment Plan to avoid the loss of discount and payment of processing fees. The Installment Payment Pan differs from the Partial Payment Plan as the payments are made quarterly beginning in advance of the actual tax roll.

The first payment through the Installment Payment Plan is due by June 30, 2010, with a 6 percent discount and the payment is based on one-quarter of the gross tax due for 2009. The second payment is due by September 30, 2010, with a 4.5 percent discount and it is also based on one-quarter of the gross tax due for 2009. The third payment is due by December 31, 2010, with a 3 percent discount and it is based on one-half of the balance due for 2010 taxes. The fourth and final installment payment is due by March 31, 2011, and will be the balance due of the 2010 taxes.

Applications for the 2010 Installment Payment Plan will be accepted November 1, 2009, through April 30, 2010. For an application, click Installment Application or call

ahhh gotta love Lori Parrish, she is creative when it comes to making sure Homeowners and Business Owners have an avenue to pay for inept and self serving, over priced projects, unsustainable union contracts for employees, corrupt county “politicos” and a myriad of other aspects the taxpayer is sick of..
