Calligraphy Workshop at Bonnet House Begins Tuesday, October 20

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens is offering two four-week Calligraphy workshops this season.  The first workshop begins Tuesday, October 20 and runs every Tuesday through November 10 from 9:30 – 11:00am.  The second workshop begins Tuesday, April 6 and runs through April 27 with the same hours.

Anthony Pastucci, the class instructor, has been teaching calligraphy throughout the State of Florida for the last twenty-five years.  A medieval history buff, he draws inspiration from the Books of Hours and other illuminated manuscripts from that period. “Calligraphy, the art of “beautiful writing,” can be learned by almost anyone, and will improve the student’s regular penmanship as well”, states Mr. Pastucci.  In addition to “hands on” learning of the art itself, participants will also be taught the history of pen lettering and the importance of the hand-copying of great works of antiquity, especially the Bible, in the scriptoria of the great monastic houses of the Middle Ages.

The cost of the workshop is $64 for members and $80 for non-members.  For registration or more information, please contact Susan Parker at (ext. 122 or .
