Police looking for BK robbers; with video

Two would-be robbers didn’t have it their way at a local Burger King when their failed robbery attempt was caught on the fast food restaurant’s surveillance video system.[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jS2-qT6A0U]

A witness saw the two sitting in a two-door, black or navy blue, older model sports utility vehicle outside Burger King on Stirling Road in Dania Beach before the incident. Around 8:50 p.m., they went inside, approached a cashier, ordered food and handed over a $5 bill. When the cashier opened the cash register drawer, one man pulled out a hand gun and said, “Give me the money.” In fear for her life, the cashier jumped backward, shutting the cash drawer with her thigh in the process. The man with the gun ran out. His accomplice, after asking for and getting his $5 back, followed.

The two can be seen on the Burger King surveillance video, as well as on video from a nearby hotel. The one with the gun was about 5-foot-7, 180 pounds and bald with an unshaven face. He wore a white shirt and black pants. His accomplice was 5-foot-9 and 200 pounds and wore sunglasses, a hat, a black shirt and blue jeans.

Anyone who recognizes the two can call Broward Crime Stoppers, anonymously, at 954-493-TIPS or at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $1,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
