Lauderdale-by-the-Sea budget hearings scheduled

The Town of Lauderdale-By-The-Sea has four 2009-10 budget meetings scheduled in July and September.

All meetings are in Jarvis Hall, (adjacent to Town Hall). The meetings are open to the public and will be broadcast over the Internet and Channel 78, the Town’s Government Channel.

The meeting dates are:

Tuesday, July 14 at 5 PM: Budget workshop on the proposed FY2009-10 Town budget.

Tuesday, July 28 at 5 PM: Special meeting to adopt proposed fire rate and proposed millage rate.

Monday, Sept. 14 at 5:01 PM: Special Public Hearing to adopt tentative millage rate, TRIM and budget, and to adopt a final fire assessment fee.

Monday, Sept. 21 at 5:01 PM: Adopt final millage rate, FY 2009-10 budget, TRIM.

The Town Commission has indicated it does not plan to raise the Town’s tax rate of $3.990 per thousand dollars of assessed property value this year.

Since property values for many Town residents are expected to decline, residents should see their Town tax bills decrease.
