File for Homestead Exemption at Northwest Regional Library on July 8
If you purchased your home before December 31, 2008, you have until March 1, 2009 to file for your exemption. All new homeowners must file even if you had Homestead Exemption in Broward County for your former residence, or if you received a Homestead Exemption carried over from the previous owner. You may file your exemption at any Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office during their normal business hours. For your convenience, the County will offer the same service at Northwest Regional Library. This service is available the second Wednesday of every month from 3 to 5 p.m. If you have filed an exemption in a previous year and have not moved during 2008, you do not need to re-file. Your exemption will be renewed automatically, with a renewal receipt sent to you in the mail before the filing deadline. If you moved after January 1, 2009, you can take this opportunity to pre-file for 2010. If you don’t receive a renewal receipt, call the Broward County Property Appraiser’s Office at or stop by the Coral Springs office at 9881 West Sample Road. the Northwest Regional Library is located at 3151 N. University Drive.

Family Funday on Saturday, July 11 at CS Museum of Art
Come join us at the Coral Springs Museum of Art on the second Saturday of every month to enjoy Family Funday art activities. Children ages 3 & up with a parent will enjoy creating artwork using the current Museum exhibition as their inspiration. Family Funday activities start at 3:30 p.m. The fee is $4 per person. Business Plan Workshops on July 21 and July 28
The City’s Business Planning workshops are set for Tuesday, July 21, at 4:00 p.m. prior to the regularly scheduled City Commission meeting, and Tuesday, July 28, at 5:00 p.m., both will take place in the City Commission Chambers. The Business Planning workshops are an important part of the City’s budget process, since this is when the next year’s business plan initiatives are identified. Following the Business Planning workshops, the City will hold two public budget hearings in September.

The City, in conjunction with the Pediatric Drowning Prevention Task Force, reminds you to Watch Your Kid as the summer season heats up. Drowning is the number one cause of death of pediatric-aged children, so the first rule is to always maintain constant supervision when children are near water. Mayor and Commissioner Office Hours

The Mayor and Commissioners of Coral Springs have office hours throughout the year on a regular basis in order to give Coral Springs residents the opportunity to meet with them one-on-one to discuss their concerns and city-related issues.

Mayor Scott Brook has three sets of office hours scheduled for July. To schedule an appointment, call

  • Tuesday, July 7 – Coffee with the Mayor 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Dunkin Donuts, 12432 W. Atlantic Blvd.
  • Monday, July 13 – Coffee with the Mayor 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Whole Foods, 810 N. University Drive.
  • Monday, July 27 – Coffee with the Mayor 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Starbucks, 2800 N. University Drive.

Vice Mayor Vince Boccard has two office hours for July. To schedule an appointment, call

  • Tuesday, July 14 from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Commission Conference Room inside City Hall, 9551 W. Sample Road.
