Swine flu at Davie Elementary

A case of the H1N1(swine) flu has been confirmed associated with a student at Davie Elementary School.  Following consultations with the Broward Department of Health, the school will be thoroughly wiped down and cleaned by custodial and Maintenance Department crews over the weekend.  The current direction from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention is not to close schools for isolated cases of the H1N1 flu.  Attendance records for the week indicate normal absences, thus there is no indication of a large number or cluster of illnesses affecting students or staff members at the school.  The District will follow the normal protocol of monitoring absences and reinforcing disease prevention methods while this specific flu strain remains a potential threat.
