FAMILIES ARE URGED TO APPLY FOR FREE AND REDUCED PRICE MEALS
Applications available at all Broward County Public Schools – Broward County Public Schools free and reduced price meals benefits program is part of an overall United States Department of Agriculture initiative that provides breakfast and lunch to children whose families meet specific low-income requirements. This program helps to assure that all children have access to nutritious food during the school day, as children need proper nutrition to grow, be healthy and learn. Families may apply for free and reduced price meals throughout the school year and applications are being accepted at all schools throughout the District. Parents who did not qualify earlier in the year and have experienced a change in financial status may apply again.
The free and reduced price meals program is more than just a free breakfast or lunch. Families who qualify for meal benefits are also eligible for a variety of additional services, including:
* Medicaid Eligibility
* Health Club Memberships
* College Scholarships
* Federal Grants
* Subsidized Loans
* College Testing (SAT, ACT) Fee Waivers
* College/University Application Fee Waivers
Free and reduced price meal applications are available at all schools throughout the District or by calling 754-321-0250. Application forms and information is also available on the District’s Food & Nutrition Services Web site: www.broward.k12.fl.us/foodservice/
