Nature – See It While You Can exhibit at Anne Kolb Center in #Hollywood

WHAT: The exhibit hall at the Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park hosts a free Gallery Exhibit. The show runs from Saturday, March 2 through Friday, March 29. The theme is “Nature – See It While You Can.” The works in the show are by Hollywood artist Larry Joe Miller, who is current president of the Hollywood Art Guild, and some of his friends. There will also be a Reception, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 15.

Veteran artist Miller has been president of the Hollywood Art Guild since 2009.The guild, established in 1953, meets monthly on the second Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Hollywood Beach Culture & Community Center (1301 S. Ocean Dr.). Its members are encouraged to participate in friendly art competitions that are judged and offer cash and ribbon awards. These shows are open to nonmembers as well.

The nature center’s exhibit hall is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is no charge to view the art exhibit, although there is a per-person fee of $1 to tour the exhibit hall.

IMPACT: 50 Years of the CFDA

IMPACT: 50 Years of the CFDA is the first museum exhibition to celebrate the quintessentially American artistry of the leading fashion trade organization in the United States. Spearheaded by Council president, Diane von Furstenberg, the exhibition includes garments and accessories by the most impactful creators of the last fifty years.

Featured in the exhibition are interactive touchscreen displays that illustrate a timeline of American fashion and recognize the nearly 600 designers who have been members of the CFDA (Council Of Fashion Designers Of America) over the last five decades. (more…)

Palm Beach International Boat Show

Show to feature more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories along scenic Flagler Drive

A spectacular display of more than $350 million worth of boats, yachts and accessories from the world’s leading marine manufacturers, the 28th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show is one of the top ten boat shows in the country. The world-class yachting event takes place March 21 through March 24, 2013, along scenic Flagler Drive in West Palm Beach, Fla., and will feature hundreds of boats ranging from small inflatables and center consoles to fishing boats and superyachts over 200 feet. Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School student artwork on display

Hollywood, Fla. – During the month of March, the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood will present “2013 Youth Art Month: Ode to the Masters,” an exhibition showcasing art by students from Pembroke Pines Charter Elementary School. Under the direction of art instructor Lucia Romano, this collection includes two-dimensional and three-dimensional pieces, using numerous methods to create realistic and abstract portraits. This exhibition will feature art from students ages 5 to 11, with the inspiration stemming from famous artists and their work. A reception will occur on Saturday, March 9 from 1 to 3 p.m., and the pieces are on view through the month in the Center’s upstairs Student Gallery space, located at 1650 Harrison St. (more…)

Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

The Annual Street Painting Festival will be taking place in the downtown area in the City of Lake Worth. The festival will be taking place on Saturday, February 23, 2013 and Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 9:00 am to 6:00 PM.

  • Lake Ave from South Dixie Hwy to South Federal Hwy
  • Lucerne Ave from South Dixie Hwy to North Federal Hwy
  • J, K, L, M Streets from 2nd Ave North to 1st Ave South

Parking at the above listed locations will be temporarily prohibited from 6:00 AM Friday, February 22, 2013 until the conclusion of the Festival on Sunday February 24, 2013 at 10:00 PM (approximate). Business owners are urged to have all deliveries made prior to 6:00 AM on Friday, February 22, 2013 since the streets will remain closed until Sunday 2/24/13.

To assure a safe and successful Holiday Parade your cooperation in this matter is urged.  The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office may tow vehicles left parked on the street in violation of this temporary order.

The Lake Worth (Robert Harris) Bridge will remain open during the Festival. There will be detour signs in place to direct vehicle traffic to access Lake Worth Bridge. Anyone wanting access to the bridge from the south end will be detoured at 2nd Ave South then east bound to the bridge and anyone wanting access to the bridge from the north end will be detoured to 3rd Ave North then east bound to the bridge.

FAU Exhibition Explores ‘POURing’ Paint in the Digital Age

Florida Atlantic University’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters will host the opening of “POUR,” an exhibition featuring nine contemporary artists whose abstract works explore paint’s liquidity, on Monday, Feb. 4, 2013 at the Schmidt Center Gallery, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. Organized and produced by the University Galleries, “POUR” is on view Tuesday, Feb. 5 through Saturday, March 23, 2013. The exhibition travels to New York City and opens concurrently at Asya Geisberg Gallery, Chelsea (April 25 to May 24, 2013) and Lesley Heller Workspace, Lower East Side (April 24 to May 24, 2013). Celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein named Honorary Chair of “Delish 2013”

LAUDERDALE, FL (January 15, 2013) – ARC Broward is pleased to announce that nationally renowned celebrity Chef Michelle Bernstein has been named Honorary Chair of “Delish 2013” presented by The Wasie Foundation and hosted by Premier Beverage. Delish is the non-profit organization’s delectable annual fundraising event that celebrates the incredible success of the ARC Broward Culinary Institute.  As Honorary Chair, Bernstein will judge the culinary stations during the event, which showcase fabulous culinary delights created by competing teams of star chefs, students and graduates of the ARC Broward Culinary Institute.  “Delish 2013” will take place Friday, March 22, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the Panorama Ballroom at Hyatt Regency Pier Sixty-Six (2301 Southeast 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale).  One hundred percent of the proceeds from the event will support critically-needed services for children and adults with autism and intellectual disabilities.  (more…)

Gabriel Iglesias Presents “Stand-Up Revolution – The Tour” At Hard Rock Live
