The Palm Beach Board of County Commissioners and the Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact will host the fourth annual Southeast Florida Regional Climate Leadership Summit, December 6 and 7, at the Jupiter Beach Resort and Spa. The resort is located at 5 North A1A, Jupiter.
The Compact, a consortium of elected officials, county leaders, and support staff from Palm Beach, Broward, Monroe, and Miami-Dade counties, was formed in 2009 to work collaboratively on the shared challenges of global climate change. The partner counties work with federal and state agencies on climate-related policy issues, including development of a Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Action Plan, and annual participation in regional summits to mark progress.
The Compact’s comprehensive action plan was unveiled at last year’s summit and finalized earlier this year. In June 2011, the four member counties earned the annual achievement award from the National Association of Counties for their climate change work.
Approximately 250 people attended last year’s summit in Key Largo, and even better attendance is expected this year in Palm Beach County. For more information and to register, please visit http://southeastfloridaclimatecompact.org/the-summit/
