Ft. Lauderdale– The Parkland 5 Mile Holiday Run will take place on Sunday, December 16th at 7:30 am to benefit children and families in need of critical after school camps or health and wellness programs. Registration is now open for the 5 or 2 mile course through the heart of the Pine Trails Park area around the YMCA. A pancake breakfast will be served to all runners.
The Run begins at the Y, with the top three male and female finishers in each age division winning prize packages, which include Parkland attractions, restaurants and movie tickets. Those who register at www.ymcabroward.org can participate in the following age groups for the 5 miler: 14& under/15-19/20-24/25-29/30-34/35-39/40-44/45-49/50-54/55-59/60-64/65-69/70+. Entry fees are $25 for the 5 miler, $15 for the 2 miler, $60 for a family (2 adults & kids), and $10 for kids 10 and under. Day of the race registrations are welcomed from 6:00am-7:00am and all runners will be scored and timed by Accuchip using disposable timer tags. In 2012, the Parkland Y gave away $300,000 in financial assistance that helped children and families during periods of financial challenge, that’s why you can be sure that 100% of the proceeds collected will be used to help right in the Parkland community.
