(MIAMI) – Industry and fleet managers, business owners, sustainability leaders, and car enthusiasts are invited to participate in the Alternative Fueled Vehicles Roadshow event in Miami on Wednesday, September 19th, from 9:00am until noon.

From propane gas to electric models, see first-hand the various Alternative Fueled Vehicles (AFVs) that are available in the market today.  A hybrid Chevy Volt, bi‐fuel Ford Fusion, propane‐fueled truck, the all‐electric Nissan Leaf, as well as Miami-Dade County fleet AFVs are just a few of the state-of-the-art vehicles that are scheduled to be on display for all registered participants to see and experience from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the vehicle showcase.  If you’ve ever wondered what options you have for saving money on fuel, the AFV Florida Roadshow is a must-see event.  A two‐hour roundtable presentation featuring knowledgeable speakers follows the showcase and covers each technology in depth.

“We are pleased to co-host this event promoting the use of alternative fuels throughout the region, as it supports many of the goals called for in our County’s GreenPrint Sustainability Plan,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez.  Representing Miami-Dade County in the Roundtable will be Deputy Mayor Jack Osterholt, who will highlight the County’s fuel efficiency initiatives, describing the fleet of gasoline and diesel electric hybrid sedans and transit buses, fuel-efficient hydraulic hybrid waste hauling vehicles, as well as the recent expansion of the County’s Metrorail service with the opening of the new Miami International Airport Metrorail station and Orange Line service to MIA.

“This event is a fine example of the work our Region’s Coalition is engaged in to educate fleet administrators, business leaders, and the public about the many types of vehicles that do not rely solely on petroleum fuel, ” said Commissioner Patricia Asseff, who is the Southeast Florida (Gold Coast) Clean Cities Coalition Chair.

Understanding the alte rnatives to traditional gasoline and how they can help control costs, improve energy security, create jobs, and build sustainable communities is crucial for today’s industry and government leaders.  The AFV Florida Roadshow brings together the various fuel alternative vehicles available in the United States, and it highlights the economics and practicality of implementing alternative fuel solutions for industry and government leaders.  The car/truck showcase is touring the state with scheduled stops and presentations in Delray Beach, Tallahassee, Jacksonville, Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando and Daytona.

This is the only stop in Miami for the Alternative Fueled Vehicles Roadshow, which will take place at the Miami-Dade County Overtown Transit Village North Tower, 70 1 NW 1st Court, Miami, FL 33136.  The vehicle showcase will take place in the southwest parking lot adjacent to the Overtown Transit Village.  There is parking available at a minimum cost for all event participants or they can simply ride the Metrorail to the Historic Lyric Theatre station, which is also adjacent to the building.  This is a FREE event for all registered participants, but roundtable space may be limited.  Sign up today at  www.afvroadshowmiami.eventbrite.com.
