In a clash between two undefeated power houses at the high school level, the Saint Thomas Aquinas Raiders defeated the Pine Crest Panthers 21-9 on a cool, rainy Friday night in the Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic at Sun-Life Stadium.
The Raiders jumped out to a 9-0 lead that they never relinquished. RJ Curtin led the charge for Saint Thomas as he tallied seven goals and five assists to be named MVP of the game. Kyle Mamane added six goals for the Raiders.
Garrett Levine got Pine Crest on the board at the 6:45 mark in the second quarter and finished the game with two goals. Harris Stolzenberg and Sam Talkow led the way for Pine Crest with three goals each.
The Raiders improved to 4-0 on the season and have now outscored their opponents 69-16 this year. It was the first loss of the season for Pine Crest, who falls to 3-1.
The Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic continues on Saturday with both high school and college action. University School and Coral Shores (boys) face off at 9 a.m. and Cardinal Gibbons and Saint Thomas (girls) meet at 1:30 p.m. NCAA action takes over Sun Life Stadium tomorrow night as the #2 Florida Gators face the #5 Syracuse Orange (womens) at 5 p.m. followed by the Michigan Wolverines and Army Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $20 and are available at the Sun Life Stadium box office.
