MIAMI-(March 05, 2013) Catholic Hospice is opening a new inpatient care unit conveniently located in Fort Lauderdale’s Holy Cross Hospital to serve Broward County hospice patients. This inpatient care unit includes 10 rooms for terminally ill patients. Catholic Hospice has been serving the South Florida Community for almost 25 years. “We are pleased to be joining the continuum of care at Holy Cross Hospital and look forward to working with the dedicated team of professionals who share the mission of providing quality care to those in need. The inpatient unit will focus on providing compassionate end-of-life care to be delivered in a homelike environment,” said Bonnie Alkema, executive director of Catholic Hospice.
A few years ago, Catholic Hospice opened their first in-patient unit at St. Catherine’s West in Hialeah Gardens, a Catholic Health Services facility. Catholic Hospice has since become part of Catholic Health Services. “Based on the current local need and the success the inpatient unit at the Catholic Health Services West Campus has had, we are extremely confident that we are bringing a unique, high quality compassionate service to the Broward community.
