FORT LAUDERDALE — One of two southbound lanes on Florida’s Turnpike will be closed most of this weekend north and south of 45thStreet (Milepost 104 to Milepost 102) in Palm Beach County, and major delays are anticipated.

The lane closure is scheduled to begin at 9 p.m. Friday. March 1, and continue through 10 a.m. Sunday, March 3. This schedule is subject to change due to the possibility of inclement weather.

The closure is needed to facilitate deep pavement milling, asphalt paving work and bridge spall repairs. These activities, along with the lane closure, were originally scheduled for the previous weekend.

The work is part of a $1.8 million project to replace the asphalt pavement, replace bridge expansion joints, and perform various repairs and safety upgrades.

For more information about the project, motorists should call 1-800-749-PIKE (7453).  Drivers may also dial 5-1-1 for real-time traffic information or visit before traveling.
