Each year the American Diabetes Association hosts the Valor Awards Luncheon to honor those individuals who have made significant business, civic and philanthropic contributions to our community.  This year, the 2012 Valor Awards will be held on Thursday, November 1st, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale.

The Valor Awards is one of Broward County’s premier networking events and is attended by over 350 of Broward’s most influential business and community leaders.  This year’s event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and include a silent auction.  The American Diabetes Association is proud to announce that Keith Costello of Broward Bank of Commerce will serve as event co-Chair alongside John Primeau of Florida Community Bank.  Jackie Awve of Awve Marketing is the event Auction Chair and Kristi Krueger of WPLG-Channel 10 will once again serve as Master of Ceremonies.

At this year’s event, an Achievement Award will be presented to Charlotte Mather Taylor, Executive Director at the Ann Storck Center.

In addition, these top South Florida leaders will be honored with Valor Awards:  Tony Beall of Mister Nonprofit Consultancy, Hobel Florido with Florido & Florido, P.A., Alan Goldberg of Diversified Companies, Jim Norton of Lifestyle Publications, David Singer of David W. Singer & Associates, P.A., Dr. Novelette Thompson of Holy Cross Hospital, Lee Tiger of Lee Tiger & Associates, and Dr. Kenneth E. Johnson of Nova Southeastern University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine.

This year’s Achievement Award is sponsored by Nipro Diagnostics. Top event sponsors include Leo Goodwin Foundation; Holy Cross Hospital; Memorial Healthcare System; Broward Health; JM Family Enterprises; AutoNation, Inc.; and Westside Regional Hospital.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, currently 35% of Americans have diabetes or pre diabetes.  Of these individuals, one in four people who have the disease do not know it.  This signature event will help raise funds to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association, which is to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by the disease.
