Suspect Arrested In Attack On Ft. Lauderdale Elderly Woman

The suspect has been identified as Ryan C. Pearl, W/M, 12/31/90, a Southwest Ranches resident who is currently on probation for a prior Armed Robbery. Pearl was taken into custody on Friday, September 14th and is currently being held without bond.

Background:
The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, August 24th, 2012 in the 1300 block of Southeast 14th Street in the City of Fort Lauderdale.
The ninety-one year old elderly female fell prey to a burglar while she was fast asleep. The burglar forced his way into her residence and then woke her up as he rummaged through her nearby nightstand. The frightened victim immediately screamed for help as the burglar grabbed her by the neck and placed his hand over her mouth. The victim copiously kicked and scratched the suspect until she was free.
The suspect fled through the front door of the residence and left the area in an unknown direction. The suspect is described as a W/M, mid to late 20’s, short hair, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants. Investigators have released the following sketch of the suspect.
