Ft. Lauderdale Police Arrest Oakland Park Man On Child Porn Charges

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department, in conjunction with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, executed a search warrant on August 3rd, 2012. The search warrant was for a private residence located at 2440 Northwest 33rd Street, Apartment #1810 in the City of Oakland Park. Members of the Task Force included the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Broward Sheriff’s Office and Coral Springs Police Department.

While conducting an undercover investigation, an ICAC Detective from the Fort Lauderdale Police Department located an IP address that was sharing child pornography. Further investigation pin-pointed the exact physical address as 2440 Northwest 33rd Street, Apartment #1810 in the City of Oakland Park.

Today, Fort Lauderdale Detectives and members of the ICAC Task Force executed the search warrant at 2440 Northwest 33rd Street, Apartment #1810 in the City of Oakland Park. The search warrant yielded a computer in the defendant’s bedroom that contained over 200 videos of children being sexually abused by adults. Many of the children depicted in the videos were as young as 2 years old. This search warrant also yielded a cache of firearms in defendant’s bedroom closet.

The defendant has been identified as John J. Brittle, Jr., W/M, 10/22/69, was arrested and charged with thirty (30) counts of Possession of Child Pornography, Use of Computer to Obtain Child Pornography, Registered Sex Offender – Failure to Register Email, Convicted Felon Possessing Firearms, and Possession of Marijuana.
