We remind you that Broward County students returned to school today. It is extremely important that you take the time to ensure that you and your children arrive at school safe and sound. Please leave plenty of time to drop your child off and be very aware of students either riding bicycles or walking to school.

3rd Annual Parkland Open Tennis Tournament
The City of Parkland and the United States Tennis Federation present the 3rd Annual Parkland Open Tennis Tournament. The tournament will take place August 25th – 27th at the Terramar Park Tennis Center located at 6575 NW 75th Dr. Parkland. Wildlife Show
Join the City of Parkland and North Broward Preparatory School on August 25th, 2012 as we learn about Florida’s native animals and some exotic animals in this free show at the Pine Trails Park Amphitheater from 10:00am till 11:00am. Make sure to bring your camera as the children are asked to come up and be part of the show! This event is free and open to all Parkland residents. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs. Sundaes In The Park
The City of Parkland and North Broward Preparatory School welcome all Parkland residents to this fantastic FREE event which will provide soft serve Ice Cream and music at Terramar Park on August 26th, 2012 from 11:00am till 1:00pm. Fishing Derby
The City of Parkland and North Broward Preparatory School are inviting all Parkland Families out to the Kid’s Fishing Derby at Pine Trails Park Fishing Pier on September 8, 2012 from 8:00am-10:00am. Remember to bring your fishing poles, buckets, and bait! Each fish caught will be weighed and prizes will be awarded. This is a FREE event! Healthy Lifestyle Class: Natural Energy Solutions
Wednesday, September 5
This program will be held one Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:00 PM in the Parkland City Hall Activity Room. These free classes are held by Dr. Tobol from the Acupuncture Wellness Center of Coral Springs, Dr. Joseph Bogart from Parkland Health & Wellness Center and Tunies Natural Grocery & Vitamin Supercenter. They will educate the audience and promote healthy living from a holistic approach. Define what the problem is, what the options from the medical community might be and what the natural solutions are including vitamins, minerals, herbs, homeopathic remedies as well as dietary changes that would help. AARP Driver Safety Program
SAT September 15, 2012 from (9:00am-3:00pm)
The AARP Driver Safety Course is a 6 hour course The course will be offered quarterly for a minimum of 15 participants and a maximum of 25 participants. The participants of the course are generally 50 and older, but anyone is permitted to register for the course. All participants of the course receive a certificate, but only those 55 and older may submit the certificate to their insurance company to receive discount benefits. Discount percentage depends on the insurance company. The cost to attend the class is $12.00 for members and $14.00 for non-members. Checks are written out to AARP. Membership number is required on the check to receive membership rate. Advance Registration is required. This class will be held at the Parkland City Hall, 6600 University Drive, Parkland. Living Healthy Program – Learning Self-Management Skills for Chronic Illnesses
Mondays September 10, September 17, September 24. October 1, October 15 and October 22
(9:30a.m. –12p.m.)
This six-week program will assist people suffering from arthritis, emphysema, asthma, heart disease, bronchitis, diabetes and other chronic conditions to build confidence in managing their chronic health issues. All participants will learn to set weekly goals, manage symptoms, eat well, learn medication “how-to’s” and improve communication with friends and family. Refreshments provided. Free to ages 60 and older. Advance Registration is required. This class will be held at the Parkland City Hall, 6600 University Drive, Parkland. Fall Storytime Registration
Wednesday, August 22nd 8:30am
Online registration will enable you to register your child for storytime on a first come, first serve basis through our website. Register at www.cityofparkland.org/library. Your Parkland Library card is required in order to register. Registration is limited to one class per child. Registration will begin on August 22nd at 8:30am.
