Certain Broward Charter Schools Not Opening Monday

Charter Schools Not Opening for 2012/13 School Year

The following charter schools do not currently have contracts to operate in the Broward County school district for the 2012/13 school year:

•     Academic Solutions High School

•     Broward Math & Science Schools

•     Pivot Charter School

•     iGeneration Empowerment Academy of Broward County

Each charter school had provisions within their executed contract to meet. The deadline for receipt of the required documents was July 20, 2012. The schools were reminded of the deadline on: June 20, 2012, June 26, 2012 and July 12, 2012.

Each school was sent a letter between July 30 and July 31, 2012 that included the following:

The deadline for receipt of the required documents was July 20, 2012. Failure to provide the required documents within the specific timeframe terminated the charter agreement.

Parents of students who planned to attend these schools are encouraged to explore their public school and public charter school options at (www.browardschools.com).
