YMCA Hosts Bikers For Backpacks Rally To Benefit Children In Need

YMCA TO HOST BIKERS FOR BACKPACKS RALLY TO BENEFIT LOCAL CHILDREN IN NEED
PARKLAND, FL, – A new school year is around the corner and thousands of children will begin without the benefit of school supplies that are necessary to complete their work and build their self-confidence. The YMCA of Broward County will host a Bikers for Backpacks Rally Fun Day and school supply drive on Saturday, August 11 starting at 8:30am to benefit these local children in need. The motorcycles will start at the Parkland YMCA and ride with their backpacks to Bokamper’s Sports Bar & Grill in Plantation to drop off the much needed school supplies and enjoy a day of fun.
This day has something for everyone—even if you don’t ride a motorcycle! From 9-10am, the public can view the motorcycles at the Parkland Y, meet the bikers and drop off supplies. There is no fee for the show; however visitors are encouraged to bring backpacks or school supplies.
The ride will begin at 10am. Bokamper’s will then welcome the bikers and friends of the Y with music, a hog roast, prizes and fun for the kids. Even if you don’t ride a motorcycle, follow us down for this fun end-of-summer event where 10% of food and beverage sales will be donated to the YMCA if you mention the “Y” to your server.
“The Y has a longstanding commitment to providing for and supporting children in need,” said Jeffrey Keller, Parklands YMCA Executive Director. “The generous support from our riders, volunteers, Bokamper’s, B.R. Signs, Waste Management and Dynasty Cycles will help us provide school supplies and programming for children in need.”
100% of the proceeds collected will be used to help children in need at the Parkland YMCA and throughout Broward County. Registration is $15 per motorcycle plus a new backpack or $25 to ride including the backpack. Please register on active.com (“Y Bikers for Backpacks”). Riders are asked to check in at 8:30am in preparation for the show.
