BabyKebaKares: - As a parent you know life with kids moves fast, so much so that we’re barely past the 4th of July and I’m still finding ornament hooks from my Christmas tree every time I vacuum. I know what you’re thinking – but that’s another topic for another post! Summer is the time of year every child relishes. It’s a time when the anticipation of what will happen in those weeks is as thrilling as the events that actually take place. Perhaps you remember going to camp, taking trips to visit relatives, going to a lake or beach house, sleeping late and staying up even later – it’s no wonder why this time of year is so magical that every musician I can think of has written a song about it that no doubt each one of us can relate to in one way or another.
But now as an adult, and mother of three children under the age of 5 – including 19 month old twin boys, I don’t get to sleep late and there really are no ‘lazy days of summer’ for parents. For a little mental vacation from the day I can close my eyes and reflect what it’s like to feel like a kid again, too – every memory filed away, yet feeling like it could have been yesterday. And with a smile I am reminded that summer is as fleeting as childhood itself. So with that in mind, I search to find the balance between enough down time and just the right amount of disciplined activities for my kids so that we make it out of this hot mess alive, with cash to spare!
