Summer Recreation Registration: Parkland Kids Camp and Teen Camp

The Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registration in person and by mail for the Summer Recreation Program for both residents and non-residents.  The Parkland Summer Recreation Kids and Teen Programs are for children ages 5-14.  Registration forms and camp calendars are available to download on the city website or may be picked up at the Parkland Amphitheater.  Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Spots fill quickly, so register early. Camp sites locations are both Westglades Middle School and Heron Heights for the Elementary Program and Westglades Middle School for the Teen Program.  Click here for more details Parkland, FL – Summer Camp for Kids


Summer Camp Open House

The Parkland Kids and Teen Camp Open House will be held on Saturday, June 19 from 10AM-1PM at each of the respective campsites.  This is an opportunity for your child to meet their counselors & directors, pick up camp shirts and other items as well as register for both the optional trips available this summer.  Also, if needed, sign up for the extended day program until 5PM.  It is recommended that all parents and campers attend this open house.

Optional Summer Camp Field Trip:
Blizzard Beach or Universal Studios

On July 30, campers ages 8 and up may attend an optional field trip to either Blizzard Beach or Universal Studios.  The fee for this trip is $85.00 and includes transportation, admission to one of the parks, dinner, snack and supervision.  The hours of the trip are from 6AM-11PM.  Payment must be made no later than Friday, July 23.  Registration for this trip may be made online, at camp or at the amphitheater.  For further information, contact GerriAnn Dougherty at or email .

Healthy Lifestyle Program: Allergies  JUN 23

This program will be held one Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.  These free classes are held by instructors from the Acupuncture Wellness Center of Coral Springs. The subject of this month’s class is Allergies.   Over 100 million Americans have allergies or allergy – related problems.  Sneezing, itchy eyes and skin rashes only “scratch”  the surface of allergy problems.  Fatigue, depression, migraines, arthritis and even diabetes can be connected to allergic conditions.  Dr. Tobol will discuss natural, non invasive ways to treat and possible cure allergies.   Advanced registration is required.  Click here for more details Parkland, FL – Healthy Lifestyle Class

Parent Night Out:   FRI  JUN  25

Enjoy a night out on the town while your kids enjoy a fun-filled evening full of games, arts & crafts, movie, and much more. This program is for children ages 4-12. Advance registration is required. Children will be supervised by the City of Parkland Summer Recreation Staff & the Teen Advisory Group Members. Program hours are 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM.   $10.00 per participant or $25.00 per family. Kid’s Fishing Derby:  JUN 26

Kids Fishing Derby presented by North Broward Preparatory School on June 26, 2010.  Join the City of Parkland as we enjoy a morning of fishing at the Pine Trails Park Fishing Pier AND Terramar Park from 8:00 am to10:00am. This event will award trophies to the kids that catch the “largest” fish.

AARP Driver Safety Course:   MON, JUN 28 & WED, JUN 30

The AARP Driver Safety Course is a 6 hour course presented in 2 days (3 hours each day). NEW!  Parkland Backgammon Club:   JUN 29

The City of Parkland Parks and Recreation Department presents the Parkland Backgammon Club.  This activity will be held from 3:00PM to 4:00PM on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Parkland City Hall, 6600 University Drive.  Beginners and advanced players are welcome. City of Parkland Summer Magic Show:   SAT, JULY 10th

The City of Parkland and North Broward Preparatory School are proud to present the Summer Magic Show Series live at the Parkland Amphitheater at Pine Trails Park on Saturday, July 10, 2010 from 10:00am -11:00am.  Audience participation is needed so bring the entire family for this fun Parkland event. Library News

“Make a Splash, READ!”   Summer Reading Club:
MON  JUN 14 – AUG 9

Every child age 2 years through 5th grade will receive a “goodie bag” for registering for the library’s “Make a Splash, READ!” summer reading club.  The children keep a reading log of books they have read to earn prizes all summer. The more books you read the more prizes you get!  You must be a Parkland Library card holder to participate.

Middle School & High School Summer Reading Club:
MON JUN 14 – AUG 9

Join our summer reading club and get free stuff!  Read the books on your summer reading list or read whatever you want.  What to do: Register at the Parkland Library and get a gift and reading log.  Read two books, bring in your log and get a prize.  Check out more books, read more and get more prizes.  Turn in your completed reading log (six books total) by August 9 and you could win a grand prize too. Take a break this summer and visit the Parkland Library.  Register and get your free gift! 

Creative Kids:  Father’s Day Craft and Cookies
WED JUN 16, 3:00pm

Join other kids at the Library to hear a great Dad story and create something really special for your Dad!  For ages 8 and up.  Registration required.


Princess Day at the Library:   MON  JUN 21st 10:30 am

The Parkland Library requests your presence at our Princess Ball. Come dressed as your favorite princess or wearing your favorite party dress.  The journey of fun includes princess stories, puppet show, and a royal craft.  Children must be age 3 and up.  Registration begins June 1;  Parkland Library card holders only.
