Klein supports job bill in Congress

Congressman Ron Klein (FL-22) today joined a majority of his House colleagues to pass a job creation bill that provides a tax cut for business owners in order to put people back to work in South Florida.

“What’s in this bill are the tax breaks and other solutions small business owners in our community have asked for over and over, in meetings across the district,” Klein said. “Every time I meet with local business owners and Chambers of Commerce, I hear them say that small businesses can create jobs and grow our economy. We just need to give them the tax breaks and other incentives and that is exactly what today’s bill does.”

The legislation passed today, the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act (H.R. 2847 – if link doesn’t work, go to www.thomas.gov and type in bill number to search), creates incentives for local businesses to hire new workers who have previously been unemployed. It exempts employers from Social Security taxes on these new employees and provides a $1,000 income tax credit for every new employee that stays with the company for a year. In addition, today’s bill has a provision that helps small businesses quickly recover the cost of investments they make in their business by giving them new options for filing their taxes. This bill is fully paid for and will not add to our national deficit.

“This is about jobs, jobs jobs,” Klein said. “I can’t be any clearer than that. My top priority is to continue fighting to turn our economy around and create jobs in our community. Providing tax cuts to local businesses to help them create jobs is the right way to continue turning our economy around. I work very closely with local small business owners, and I know they are the engine of our local economy. They will drive job creation and put people back to work in South Florida, and I believe in standing behind them100 percent.”
