Hollywood hosting bike clinic Saturday March 6

Does your child know the rules of the road?  Round’em up, grab their bikes and helmets and join the City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts, the Hollywood Police Department, the Washington Park Homeowner’s Association and the non-profit Community Enhancement Collaboration (CEC) for a bicycle rodeo.

This free, fun-filled bike safety clinic will take place on Saturday, March 6 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Washington Park Community Center, 5199 Pembroke Road in Hollywood.  Children ages 4-13 will be able to participate in a bike safety clinic geared towards helping them develop the awareness they need to safely ride their bikes recreationally and as a means of transportation to and from school.

The rodeo will include a bike obstacle course, information on bike maintenance, games and a bike safety video.  Participants will have the opportunity to win bike-related prizes including bike helmets.  Attendees will also have the opportunity to receive a free car booster seat thanks to a donation to the CEC from Ms. Gwen Lewis, who lost her 21 year-old daughter Rikki Lewis in a car accident in 2005.  Ms. Lewis has become an advocate for seat belt and car seat use.

In the event of inclement weather, this event will be re-scheduled.  For additional event information contact the Washington Park Community Center at 954.967.4240.  For media inquiries, contact Raelin Storey at 954.921.3098 or 954.812.0975.
