COCONUT CREEK, Fla. – American legendary songwriter, singer, rock guitarist and piano player, John Hiatt (www.johnhiatt.com) will perform for one night only, Feb. 27 in the Pavilion at Seminole Casino Coconut Creek. Standing-room-only tickets are available at the casino cashier’s cage for $25. Doors open at 8 p.m. for the 9 p.m. show.

Hiatt has accumulated 11 Grammy Award nominations playing a wide variety of musical styles including New Wave, blues and country on his 20 albums. The first Grammy nomination came in 1995 for his Walk On album.

His songs have been covered by a “who’s who” list of top artists including: Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, Jimmy Buffett, Mandy Moore, Jewel, Keith Urban, Paula Abdul, Three Dog Night, Buddy Guy, Emmylou Harris, Nick Lowe, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Rosanne Cash, Aaron Neville and others. His tune, “Have a Little Faith in Me” has been covered by Joe Cocker, Delbert McClinton, Jewel, Bill Fisell, Mandy Moore and Bon Jovi.

One of his more famous songs, used by Bonnie Raitt on her outstanding 1989 Nick of Time album is “Thing Called Love” that went to number 11 on the U.S. charts. Though his first album, the critically acclaimed, Hangin’ Around the Observatory, was issued in 1974, his first big hit, “Bring the Family” didn’t occur until 1987.

In 2000, Hiatt had a string of nine straight studio albums that hit the Billboard 200. That year he was also named songwriter/artist of the year at the Nashville Music Awards. In 2008, he received the Americana Music Association (AMA) Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting.

The Open Road, his latest album, will be released in March on New West Records and feature his outstanding touring band comprised of  Kenny Blevins on drums, Patrick O’Hearn on bass, and Doug Lancio on guitars.
