Robbery suspect shot and killed by Broward Sheriff’s Office

Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives have identified a robbery suspect who was shot and killed by BSO detectives Young, DannieWednesday as 27-year-old Dannie Young of Lauderdale Lakes.

Young had been the subject of an investigation by BSO and other agencies into several recent robberies in the central Broward area. A tactical team of detectives arranged to meet the suspect outside the 19th Street Food Store in Lauderdale Lakes. As detectives approached Young, he exited his vehicle armed with a handgun. Detectives fired, and the suspect was shot and killed.

Young had a history of criminal activity in Broward County including arrests for robbery, drugs and firearms violations.

The shooting is under investigation by BSO’s Homicide, Crime Scene and Internal Affairs units.

Per standard procedure, the detectives involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave.
