Lynch asking gov’s office to change election date due to Passover

Edward Lynch, a candidate for U.S. Congress has contacted the office of Governor Charlie Crist to request a change of date for the forthcoming Special General Election in Florida’s 19th Congressional District, previously scheduled for April 6th, 2010.  April 6th is the last day of Passover, and religiously observant Jews recognize the last day of Passover as a holy day of prayer in expectation of the final redemption, and not an appropriate date for participating in elections.

“Very simply, we believe that special elections should never be held in conflict with any religious observance, and this election needs to be rescheduled as soon as possible,” said Lynch.
