FBI releases sketch of Dania Beach Brinks’ robber; second robbery committed

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) are releasing a sketch of a suspect believed to be the driver in the Brinks armored car robbery from last Tuesday. On September 22, 2009, as brinksBrinks’ guards were making a delivery at 3400 SW 26th Terrace, Dania Beach, Florida, they were confronted by two men wearing ski masks, pointing AK-47 assault rifles. Shots were fired and one of the guards sustained non-life threatening injuries to his leg. The robbers escaped in a stolen blue cargo van which was set on fire and found a short distance from the scene. They are believed to have then gotten into a Red Dodge Magnum and fled the area. The sketch being released today is believed to be the driver of the van who stayed in the vehicle during the attempted robbery. A reward of up to $45,000 is being offered for information that will lead to the arrest of the robbers, $25,000 from Brinks and $20,000 from the FBI.

Two days later on Thursday, September 24, 2009, another armored car robbery took place at the RaceTrac gas station located at 20696 NW 27th Avenue, Miami Gardens, Florida. Two men wearing ski masks pointed hand guns at the guard as he was walking out of the store with a blue canvas bag. The guard dropped the bag and ran around to the other side of the Brinks truck. One of the robbers picked up the bag while the other ran after the guard. After disarming the guard and taking his gun, both robbers fled the scene in a stolen white Dodge Intrepid driven by a third robber. The car was found abandoned a short distance from the gas station.

If anyone has information regarding the whereabouts of these individuals, they are urged to call the FBI at (305) 944-9101.
