October 14 – Fall Jam Bicycle Rodeo
The BSO/Oakland Park District in partnership with the Parks and Leisure Services Department are hosting the Fall Jam Bicycle Rodeo on Tuesday, October 13 at the Collins Community Center from 6 to 8 p.m. This event is free to the public and all participants in the bicycle rodeo will receive a free bicycle helmet, courtesy of the Epilepsy Foundation of Broward County and the Kiwanis Club of Oakland Park. Free bicycle locks, coloring books and bicycle safety lights will also be available.
There will be music, games and fun. Sal’s Towing will provide hot dogs and sno-cones.
October – Halloween Fun
Come join Oakland Park for their annual Halloween Fun event happening October 23 & 24. This event will include a teen dance for children ages 11 to 15, carnival rides, a costume contest, game booths and a free treat bag given to the first 1,000 costumed children…..and only for those brave souls who dare to enter…..a haunted house guaranteed to scare even the scariest ghouls and goblins! Regular Active Adults Programming – at Jaco Pastorius Community Center

Arts & Crafts – Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to Noon
Join this fun class for a variety of arts & crafts which features several mediums of crafting.
Game Day – Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Come join others as they play some favorite
board games such as checkers and Parcheesi in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
Contract Bridge – Thursdays from Noon to 3 p.m.
Enjoy some company and play this popular card game. Players must know how to play bridge.
Red Hatters – First Friday of each month from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
This red hat group are members of the “International Group of Red Hatters” which meets September
through May. Join this fun, social group to discuss upcoming activities.
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS) – Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m.
TOPS is the oldest international, non profit, non commercial weight loss support group.

Computer Classes – Fridays from 10 a.m. to Noon
Come and learn the basics of computer operation.

Strength Training Results in our Nation’s Elders Growing Stronger (STRONG) — Mondays and
Thursdays 10 to 11 a.m. featuring exercise using chairs to help fight osteoporosis.

TEEN EVENTS

Oakland Park Teen Spot is a place for teens to come enjoy a wide range of recreation and social activities in a relaxed atmosphere. Teens will have the opportunity to experience activities such as sports, karaoke, movie night, tournaments, games and self-improvement life skills and much more.

The Teen Lounge — Almost every teenager wants and deserves a safe place to visit where the door is always open to them. The Teen Lounge (TTL) offer a whole slew of fun events and activities such as: dances, poetry nights, movie nights, outings to local attractions, workshops and other special events.
