Miramar starting Big Brother program
Calling all young men between the ages of 12 and 18 to join the City of Miramar’s NEW Big Brothers Corner mentoring program. This program will provide assistance to young men in developing and achieving their goals. We will also provide an environment for these men to be inspired to develop leadership skills by teaching them to become productive young adults in today’s society. Each month will have topics and group discussions ranging from setting goals and achieving them, creating a resume, identifying your passion, education, and much more. Our meeting days will be Tuesday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Youth Enrichment Center, 7000 Miramar Parkway; Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186th Ave; and Fairway Park Community Center, 3700 Largo Drive. This program will include guest speakers during class topics, group discussions and field trips. Field trip days may vary and may be held on Saturdays and/or Teacher Planning days.
The cost for the Big Brothers Corner program is a $25 annual activities registration fee and a program fee of $10 per month. You can register Monday through Friday at Sunset Lakes Community Center, 2801 SW 186th Ave. from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.; Youth Enrichment Center, 7000 Miramar Parkway from 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.; and Fairway Park Community Center, 3700 Largo Drive from 2:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m..
