Wachovia supports Daily Bread Food Bank with donation
Wachovia Foundation donated $30,000 to Daily Bread Food Bank in response to the critical food needs in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Kathryn Dinkin, southeast Florida regional president of Wachovia, presented the check on Friday, June 26 to Daily Bread Food Bank on behalf of the Foundation. The donation will provide more than 180,000 meals for South Florida’s hungry. In addition to this generous gift, Wachovia team members also conducted a food drive over the last month and contributed 4,398 pounds of food.
“Wachovia is proud to be helping hungry people in our South Florida communities with our food drive and the Wachovia Foundation’s financial donation to Daily Bread Food Bank,” Dinkin said. “These are tough times and we hope our contributions will make a difference.”
Due to the current economic climate, feedback from member agencies has shown a 39 percent increase in the need for food bank services. With this increase in need, Wachovia’s gift could not have come at a better time.
