and intimate look at the formative years of Baroque master George Frederic Handel.  Performances run July 23rd – 26th, 2009 in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.

An American chamber music ensemble renowned for bringing early music to life through emotionally-connected and historically informed performances, the Tableau Baroque Ensemble will take audiences on a musical journey through the courts and chapels of 17th century Europe to find the source of Handel’s genius.

“We’re so excited to bring this program to Miami and to be a part of Seraphic Fire’s first Summer Series,” says Tableau Baroque countertenor Ian Howell. “I have known and worked with Patrick for a number of years and have been amazed at the cultural revolution that he has brought to Miami. It really is a miracle!”

Lorenzo Lebrija, president and CEO of Seraphic Fire, says, “we’re thrilled that the Tableau Baroque ensemble was available for our inaugural summer series. It demonstrates the high caliber of talent that we seek to present in the summer when our choir and orchestra are taking a well-deserved summer break.”

Handel’s Inheritance begins in Halle, Germany, where Tableau Baroque traces Handel’s travels through Italy and into England, savoring the cosmopolitan blend of French, Italian, and Germanic styles so popular in Europe at the time. Audiences are guided along on an exploration of the music of Handel’s youth, from chapel, chamber, and stage, as these influences blend into the unmistakable sound of the mature master. Through the compositions of Corelli, Keiser, Schelle, J.P. Krieger, Zachow, Steffani, Handel himself, and others, this accomplished ensemble led by Countertenor Ian Howell, weaves a sonic tapestry of the world in which the young Handel became the man we now celebrate.

Performance venues include Saint Martha in the Shores, First United Methodist Church of Coral Gables, All Saints Episcopal Church in Fort Lauderdale and the Miami Beach Community Church on Lincoln Road.

Tickets are $25 and available now at www.seraphicfiretickets.com or by phone any time at (866) 739-0010.
