SUV hits and kills pedestrian

Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide investigators are trying to determine how a man was killed in traffic Monday night while walking across State Road 7.

The crash happened just before 9 p.m. Monday. Though details are scarce at this point, it appears that the man may have been attempting to cross State Road 7 about 150 feet south of Davie Boulevard when he was hit by a southbound 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue paramedics transported him to Broward General Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Investigators are working to find and notify the man’s family of his death. His identity and that of the driver will be released today, June 16, along with the details of the crash.
