Robber hits Oakland Park bank; video enclosed
The bank robber thought he had an excellent plan with a foolproof escape. He parked his car in the rear parking lot of a nearby business across the street from his target, walked to the front of the business, went across the street and into the bank, committed the robbery, calmly walked back across the street and fled in his vehicle. He probably thought he took all the necessary steps to prevent anyone from tracking him down, but the whole thing – arrival, ro
bbery and getaway – were caught on surveillance video.
Shortly after 10 a.m., the suspect handed a note to the teller at the American National Bank in Oakland Park demanding the money from the cash drawer and threatening to hurt her unless she complied. The bank employee handed over the money and the robber walked out of the bank. At first it was believed the suspect fled the scene on foot, but once Broward Sheriff’s Office robbery detectives canvassed the area, they realized the suspect had driven to the scene and they had they whole thing on tape.
The robber is described as a white male, about 40-years-old, of slim build, approximately 5’8” tall, weighs about 140 lbs., has blond hair, wears glasses, and was last seen wearing a long-sleeve, button down, light blue shirt and khaki pants.
His getaway vehicle is a dark colored, 4-door Toyota Tundra pick-up truck. It has light window tints on front and darker tints on the back, running boards and aluminum MAG style wheels.
