Museum of Art FTL inviting fathers for free on Father's Day
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale, a division of Nova Southeastern University, is rolling out the red carpet in honor of all fathers. This upcoming Father’s Day, Sunday, June 21, from 12 – 5 pm, all fathers are invited for a FREE day at the Museum to relax, enjoy 2-for-1 beers and enjoy the current exhibition With You I Want to Live. Father’s can also enjoy a free tour of the exhibition at 2 pm.
The first floor of With You I Want to Live features some of the world’s top contemporary artists and is curated from the collection of local art collectors Francie Bishop Good + David Horvitz. The second floor, courtesy of Gordon Locksley + George T. Shea, features work from American, British and Asian artists. All four individuals are tireless collectors passionately engaged in the contemporary art scene.
The Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale has brought together over one hundred selected works from these two collections for With You I Want to Live. The exhibition title is taken from a neon wall sculpture by Tracey Emin in the Locksley collection. The exhibition, The Locksley + Shea Collection, installed in the second floor galleries, will remain on view through March 22, 2010; and the Good+Horvitz Collection, in the first floor galleries, will remain on view through October 12, 2009.
In addition to the exhibition, the Museum will offer FREE admission for Father’s and 2-for-1 drinks – beers, fine wines, and gourmet coffee drinks.
Current Museum exhibitions include With You I Want to Live along with the Museum’s permanent collections The Spectacle of Life: The Art of William Glackens, CoBrA and The Indigo Room or Is Memory Water Soluble?
