DISTRICT HOSTS BUDGET TOWN HALL MEETINGS ON MONDAY, APRIL 27 — Discussion Topics Focus on Budget and State Public Education Funding
School Board members and Superintendent James Notter are hosting town hall meetings on Monday, April 27 – from 6-8 p.m. – to discuss how the continuing economic downturn and state education funding cuts are impacting public education in South Florida and throughout the state.
The town hall meeting will originate from the Kathleen C. Wright Administration Building (600 SE 3rd Avenue) in downtown Fort Lauderdale and be video conferenced live to the following six school sites across the county.
Boyd Anderson High School (3050 NW 41st Street, Lauderdale Lakes)
Coral Springs High School (7201 W. Sample Road, Coral Springs)
Everglades High School (17100 SW 48th Court, Miramar)
Piper High School (8000 NW 44th Street, Sunrise)
Pompano Beach High School (600 NE 13th Avenue, Pompano Beach)
South Broward High School (1901 N. Federal Highway, Hollywood)
Parents, students and the general public are invited to attend and participate at any of the seven locations. Attendees at the school sites will have opportunities to ask questions directly to Board Members or the Superintendent – live – via the District’s conferencing technology.
The meeting will be televised on BECON-TV (Comcast/Advanced Cable channel 19 and channel 63 via satellite) from 6:30-7:30 p.m. The meeting will also be streamed live on the District’s Web site (www.browardschools.com). BECON and Web site viewers will be informed how they can e-mail and text questions and comments into the meeting.
